New York City - Mark Wyman
The Gatherings, 2001-2002. David Stern. (American, b. Germany, 1956). "Inspired by the sight of his grieving neighbors comforting one another after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, New York City resident David Stern created a series of five paintings collectively titled 'The Gatherings.' Together the paintings are a memorial to those who were killed on 9/11 and a tribute to those who held vigils in their honor, lit candles, and brought flowers to local firehouses and police stations that were missing personnel."
